124 counties in Georgia are home to 1.7 million rural Georgians. Since the start of the Great Recession in 2007, rural Georgia has lost 6.9% of its jobs, at least 4 hospitals(with more closings looming), and millions of dollars in Federal and State funding (http://saportareport.com/rural-georgia-home-17-percent-states-residents-faces-grueling-hardships/). The rural population is crucial to the health of Georgia and you can help us by joining in the work ahead.

The Georgia Democratic Rural Council was established in 2014 to address the needs of rural Georgia. Since we address all issues; healthcare, poverty, a clean environment, job opportunity, growth and development, agriculture, and infrastructure, education, and senior citizen and veteran’s issues, we should grow our caucus in order to be both formidable and productive. To do this, we need your help. Please encourage your committee members to join our caucus (our FB page is https://www.facebook.com/pg/Georgia-Democratic-Rural-Council-1525092564428734/about/?ref=page_internal). Even better, allow us some representation in your committee by choosing a rural caucus representative or committee.

If you are interested in joining us to organize rural Georgia, please contact:

Chairman Scout Smith, scoutsmith2014@gmail.com, (706)350-8310 or Vice Chair Lisa Ring, lisaring1stcdga@gmail.com, (912)224-6282

We look forward to hearing from you and getting to the work at hand to make Georgia prosperous, healthy, and inclusive of all.
